About Karen Coles
Counselling and Psychotherapy
My Commitment:
To provide the time, space, safety and respect you need to reflect upon difficulties in your life and relationships. Working together we can identify ways to overcome these; empowering you to work towards happiness and fulfillment.
Practising Integrative therapy enables me to tailor our work together, responding directly to your needs. It allows us to focus on the here and now; finding effective solutions to current concerns in a relatively short time. Alternatively, we can take a step back, taking the time you need to unpack long-standing issues and experiences that you wish to address.
The choice is yours. The pace is yours. I am here to listen to you, to acknowledge your experiences and to actively support you in building strength and self-confidence to make positive changes in your life.
Addressing Your Needs:
In my experience, Integrative Therapy is effective across a wide spectrum of issues including: anxiety and panic; depression; self-esteem; loss (relationship breakdown and divorce; miscarriage, termination and infertility; redundancy and retirement); bereavement; relationship difficulties; stress; body image and eating disorders; Obsessive Compulsive Disorder; and trauma.
I have extensive expertise in addressing:-
-
Teenage struggles with the pressures and demands of education, home, peers, establishing their own identity and planning their future.
-
Challenges facing parents, families and professionals supporting young people.
-
Child abuse - neglect, physical, sexual, emotional –ending the debilitating impact it can have on survivors' lives.
-
Domestic Abuse (past and present) - overcoming its impact on lives, self-esteem and the ability to form positive relationships.
-
The needs of families and friends of those addicted to drugs and alcohol whose own emotional health and wellbeing is being eroded by the addiction of others.
About me:
I have been providing professional advice, guidance, counselling and in depth personal support to adults, young people and their families for over twenty six years. I have worked within schools, colleges, community and youth work settings, and voluntary organisations.
In addition to my Post- graduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy, I hold professional qualifications as a Personal Advisor and in Careers Guidance, Assessment and Training, Management, and Child Protection.
My counselling approach is focussed on empowerment, strategies for change and enabling positive life choices.
Life Coaching
Sometimes we get stuck in a rut. It can be frustrating and demotivating, often leaving us feeling trapped, stressed and disengaged. Work demands, limited prospects, financial commitments and family expectations, can all appear to totally outweigh our personal needs and our hopes and aspirations.
Life coaching can give you a new perspective and offers you the opportunity to get to grips with your present circumstance and pave the way to a more fulfilling future.
It is about acknowledging your dreams, identifying the ones that can be transformed into achievable goals and making the choices and changes you need to make them a reality.
Working together we can help you rebalance the different demands in your life, giving you the space to re-establish your own identity and the energy to make things happen.
Together we can raise your aspirations, boosting your motivation and increasing your self-confidence.
I have been enabling individuals to create these effective and reachable goals for over twenty six years.
I hold professional qualifications in Careers Guidance, Assessment and Training and Counselling and Psychotherapy. I have worked with all ages and all abilities, providing professional advice, guidance and counselling to people facing critical choices – from life planning to coping with redundancy.
