About Vivienne Webb

Does this sound like you?

You feel alone with your problems, whether or not you have people around you, who love you and care about your well-being.

You  feel isolated or stuck with a particular situation – or with a persistent emotional or mental health difficulty.

You want to take some time away from your usual routines and responsibilities to reflect on the course of your life, and to regain a sense of perspective and purpose.

What I can offer you

I invite you to make an appointment with me – to talk, to reflect, to deepen your own understanding of your situation, and to look to the future. Whatever your experience or difficulty, you’ll be warmly welcomed. During counselling or psychotherapy, I'll be listening carefully, always seeking to understand things from your point of view, and helping you find ways to support yourself and understand yourself better.

  • I will always strive to work with you as an individual (or couple), coping with personal and unique life events - including circumstances in which you have already been given a diagnosis by another mental health professional.
  • The therapeutic process may be short-term (from a couple of sessions to several weeks) or longer-term (continuing for several months or years) and will include regular reviews, for us to check that the way we are working is right for you.
  • Please feel free to talk about anything that causes you distress or concern - whether or not it's included in the list below.
  • I'm happy to answer initial questions on the phone or by email. Please leave your contact details and I will get back to you.

I work with a wide range of issues, including:

  • low self-esteem
  • childhood -related issues
  • stress
  • anxiety
  • depression
  • relationship issues
  • termination, abortion, miscarriage
  • bereavement
  • emotional and physical abuse
  • sexual abuse and survivors of childhood sexual abuse
  • trauma
  • adults and young adults with Aspergers Syndrome
  • general parenting issues
  • couples counselling
  • identity issues
  • general counselling and psychotherapy

About me

I've been practising as a counsellor in Shefffield for over ten years and have experience working with individuals struggling with a wide range of emotional issues and mental health problems. I've worked in a variety of professional settings, including counselling charities, university counselling services and an NHS counselling service. I have had additional specialist training and experience as a pregnancy counsellor and as a  childhood sexual abuse (CSA) counsellor. I also work as a counselling supervisor.

I'm a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I work within its 'Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions'. I have an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate. I'm employed for two days per week by a Sheffield-based, community interest (CIC), counselling and wellbeing organisation, working with young people.

I have previously been employed in projects working with: young carers; 'looked after' young people; survivors of domestic abuse; adults living in the community with severe and enduring mental health problems; and with young people and teachers in schools.
